FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much will physical therapy cost?

  • Each patient's insurance plan/benefits are different. It just depends on which plan you signed up for.

  • This means every patient will have different deductibles, copayments, co-insurance and patient liability amounts.

  • We do our best to give you an estimated cost per visit once we complete your insurance verification. Every visit can be different, so this is why educating you on your insurance plan's benefits is our top priority.

  • You can use an HSA or FSA card to pay for your portion of the cost share.

  • To receive a free insurance verification today call (586) 430-1154 or email info@fptwellness.com. *We will need to collect your name, date of birth, insurance card information.*

Do I need a prescription to come to physical therapy?

  • The State of Michigan no longer requires a physician’s signed prescription for physical therapy. The State allows therapists to perform an evaluation and provide treatment without a prescription for 10 visits in 21 days, whichever comes first. If we believe treatment will extend beyond this time frame, we will need a doctor to sign a plan of care.  If we believe you should see a doctor prior to the start of treatment we will let you know.

  • Disclaimer:  While The State has allowed direct access to a physical therapist, it may not be covered under your insurance plan. Some insurance companies still require a prescription for physical therapy even after the expansion of direct access.  Call our office with you insurance information and we would be happy to check for you. If your insurance will not cover services without a prescription, we have self-pay options as well.
